In the 20's the 2 main African American rights groups were the NUL (National Urban League) and the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), both of the groups were supported by middle class white liberals, and with hard work the groups the two groups gained victories like the temporary Sweet Case which allowed African Americans to protect themselves against violence and the First Texas Primary case which called the exclusion of African Americans from the primary stage elections unconstitutional. Later on Marcus Garvey would create the UNIA (Universal Negro Improvement Association) which the NAACP would come to despise due to their goals.
